Planning & Customization

• Can I split long walking stages or add extra rest days?

  Yes. We can customize your itinerary to fit your preferred pace. Popular modifications include adding an extra night’s rest in historic Pontevedra or splitting the 24 km final stage into two shorter walks with an overnight stay in Teo or Milladoiro.

• Is Stage 2 suitable for solo travelers?

  Yes. The Camino Portugués Coastal Route is extremely safe, well-marked, and welcoming for solo pilgrims. A single supplement covers private single-occupancy hotel rooms for the entire journey.

• Can I combine Stage 1 and Stage 2 into one continuous trip?

  Absolutely. You can link Stage 1 (Porto to Baiona) directly with Stage 2 (Baiona to Santiago) for the full 14-day Portuguese Coastal Camino experience from Porto to Santiago.

Luggage & Baggage Transfer

• How does daily luggage transfer work?

  Your main bag (1 piece per person, max 20 kg) is transferred automatically between hotels each day. Leave your bag at hotel reception by 8:00 AM, and our transport service delivers it to your next accommodation by early afternoon.

• What should I carry in my daypack?

  Carry a 20–30L daypack with 1.5L of water, daily trail snacks, waterproof gear, light layers, sun protection, personal first-aid items, your Pilgrim Passport, and cash for small local cafes.

Travel, Airports & Transfers

• Which airports are best for Stage 2?

  • Arrival (Baiona): Vigo (VGO), Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), or Porto (OPO) are the most convenient airports.

  • Departure (Santiago): Santiago de Compostela Airport (SCQ) is 20 minutes from the city center.

• Are airport transfers included in the tour price?

  Arrival and departure transfers are not included in the base rate, but private door-to-door driver transfers from Santiago, Vigo, or Porto airports can be added to your booking through UWalk.

Pilgrim Passport & Compostela Certificate

• Will I receive the official Compostela certificate in Santiago?

  Yes! The official Pilgrim Office requires you to walk at least the last 100 km into Santiago to earn the Compostela. Stage 2 covers 127 km from Baiona, fully qualifying you for the certificate.

• How do I collect stamps (sellos) along the route?

  Your Pilgrim Passport (Credencial) is included in your UWalk pack. You must collect at least 2 stamps per day on Stage 2 at churches, cafes, town halls, and hotels along the trail to verify your route when arriving at the Cathedral.

On the Trail & Navigation

• Is the route easy to follow?

  Very easy. The trail is heavily marked with yellow arrows and scallop shell symbols on stone markers throughout Galicia. Detailed physical walking notes and GPX/digital route guides are also included in your booking pack.

• What happens if I get injured or need help on the trail?

  UWalk provides a 24/7 emergency support helpline while you are on the trip to assist with logistics, medical inquiries, or taxi arrangements if you need to skip a section.
