Just back from walking the Frances way of the Camino with Uwalk, and it was such an enjoyable experience. Our trip was a surprise gift from our family. So excited. Started training/guidelines and time frame given by Karl Henry, who also provided us with recipes for nutritional snacks. Very apprehensive as time drew near. Packed following your guidelines and those given by Karl, and sharing within our group. A support group had been created before we stepped on the plane. Once we landed in Santiago, we were bonding.
Booking in was quickly sorted, and the wonder of what lay ahead was the elephant in the room. Monday morning found us getting to know each other as we headed off to Sarria. Ezra and Samuel made us feel in safe hands as we took our first steps on our journey into the “unknown”. As one person said “We could be at any crossroads in Ireland “.
The landscape was familiar. However, the journey was far from familiar. Sharing, caring, laughter, tears, not to mention sore feet. The beauty of our route, the solitude, time to reflect, meet and greet, chats over a cuppa, or as we queued for a bathroom, Ezra and Samuel sharing their knowledge of where we were and where to find a snack, etc. They were a pleasure at all times, always looking out for us.
Accommodation was super. A bit of a shock when we saw our accommodation in Azura, coming from 4 4-star in Lugo to a 2-star. We were well tired after a 29km walk. Once we found food, we were back on track again, and our accommodation was clean and comfortable. Transport was efficient and on time. Karl was always present for us. Tips and suggestions on our group app, plus a summary of our walk that day. Also had some creams and supports for anyone in need. Anyone who required a trip to the hospital was amazed with the service. Samuel fast-tracked our passports and had our certs ready within a few hours. So thoughtful of him.
We had an ideal venue for our celebration lunch in Santiago de Comp. Reaching our destination was a mix of emotions. We had accomplished our challenge with “our walking family”.
It was nice to have time to explore Santiago, especially as it was Palm Sunday, we were able to experience how the Spanish celebrated the event. What an experience. The processions and the artwork on the square. The banter with the airport staff was a joy. A contrast in Dublin. So glad we did the walk and all going well will try another one next year. Thank you.

I found the organisation of the entire trip to be extremely well done. The luggage transfer was efficient, and the bus transfers each day were dependable. This gave a great sense of security. WhatsApp also helped to create a sense of inclusivity and “minding” and back up. The hotel accommodation exceeded my expectations. The route guides were professional and friendly. I would have no hesitation in recommending Uwalk to anyone interested in such a walking holiday.

I just returned from a Camino Walk organised by Uwalk.ie. From the moment we arrived til we departed, I felt totally wrapped in superb customer service. There was a great focus on safety and enjoyment delivered by the two expert guides. One Guide led the group from the front whilst the other ensured all walkers were accounted for. Two professional, knowledgeable guides for our group who constantly checked on our well-being and provided encouragement to those who needed it at times.
The hotels provided were just superb, and I could not fault the quality of the rooms, or the breakfast provided in each Hotel. Martin, the owner, introduced himself to our group, and it was a pleasure to meet him as he was very friendly and unassuming. Mary Kennedy was the inspired selection to lead our group. She was charming, took time to acquaint herself with every person and made us all feel welcome and valued. Well done, Uwalk on a superb service. I could not recommend our Uwalk experience any higher for anyone walking the Camino. It was really an excellent service from start to finish. The price was very competitive, and the staff were extremely helpful with the booking process and answering any queries we had. The communication prior to our trip was excellent, and when we landed, we were met by someone to bring us to our first hotel.
The accommodation along the Camino was as good as we could have expected, and the two nights in Santiago at the end were very welcome. Also, the luggage transfers every day were very efficient and the hotels were expecting us when we arrived. Great experience!

I’m so thrilled I went with a group to share these amazing memories, and the people you meet become friends for life. It’s such a unique experience that it takes quite some time to reflect and digest the enormity of what we achieved. This walk for me gave time and space to do just that, and even though I had to come home early, I found clarity for my new path. I booked my Camino trip with the Hike Psych and Uwalk.ie back in January/February. I didn’t know anyone going on the trip, but hoped that I would make new connections, get some exercise and enjoy the towns/villages and local cuisine. It surpassed all my expectations. Our group were so lovely and empathetic and great craic. Ranging from 30+ to 65ish. I have made lifelong friends on this trip. It was such a therapeutic week.
Uwalk and our guide, Martha, were great to deal with me, from the initial booking to recommending places to eat, etc. The accommodation was lovely. Two of the hotels were far more luxurious than I was expecting, and the other two were a little more rustic and dated, but spotlessly clean. Getting bags transferred to the hotel made it a far more enjoyable experience. Having done the Portuguese Way last year, staying in hostels and carrying my bag, I’d highly recommend getting the bags transferred.
I’ll definitely check out Uwalk again for other walking trips. Would love to see a trip to Madeira as a potential option.

Completing a section of the French Way with Dev accompanied by Dusty has been one of the highlights of my Summer. It felt like such a luxury and a real holiday to have everything organised from your hotels and transfers to day trips. Dev’s energy and daily words of encouragement created a wonderful atmosphere amongst the group. You can see her passion and love for connecting people on trips like this, and I’m eagerly hoping for a Portuguese way with her next summer

I took part in my first Camino Frances 100km walk Sarria to Santiago this year because it’s been on my bucket list practically all my life, I went with Trisha’s Transformation and Uwalk.ie because of the support and guidance it would give it didn’t disappoint me it exceeded my expectations, and I’m looking forward to going again next year to do a different route, daily transfer to and from each location and local history provided by Dusty Flanagan was what I took away from my trip and my highlight, I felt a great sense of personal achievement and a personal journey in my ability to accomplish 100km walking thank you for the experience of a lifetime.

We booked our Camino trip for a large group of TY Students. UWalk took care of everything for us. From the initial booking right up to the end of our trip they were there to look after any issues or queries that we had. As a lone traveller I was somewhat apprehensive at first but those feelings disappeared as soon as I was greeted by a most friendly host on arrival at the Airport. Everything went very smoothly, met some lovely people and the backup support along the way was incredible. It was one of the most incredible experiences I’ve had to date.

I originally booked my first Camino to mark a special birthday of mine, I booked it with Louise she was very helpful and full of info regarding the trip no question was out of the ordinary for her. I planned to do it alone months past after I booked and the thought of bring my young daughters (13 & 11) crossed my mind more than one occasion, I called Louise to talk her about it, she advised me and checked out availability and the pricing for it, she came back to me quickly and I decided to go ahead with it. All organised and ready to go we set off on our first Camino adventure together, we enjoyed the bus transfer to Santiago where we enjoyed our first night in Spain and met our fellow pilgrims on our group we all enjoyed a meal together on the first night at the hotel Alfonso which was very nice hotel and breakfast was plentiful with lots of options, we enjoyed all the accommodations over the 7 days it was all high spec places our rooms were consistently clean and comfortable, perhaps the hotel in Amenal was a little below the other standards in regards to food abut fine all the same. The walking route was manageable every day we did find the second day a little long because of the lack of forest trails it was lovely to finally arrive that day in Palas de Rei that was a beautiful little place. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our Camino experience, highly recommend my daughters really enjoyed it we took our time each day. I do think it is a good bonding opportunity with adolescent teenager age group I feel we learnt from each other on our 5 days walking together. I do plan to book again and maybe take a different route to Santiago I might opt for the self guided option the next time which looked similar to our own group without the guide.

Uwalk are amazing! I went on the Camino with Uwalk and The Hike Life in August 23 and I cannot recommend them enough! They planned out the trip so well for us, got us a great deal and the staff on the ground in Spain were so lovely and helpful. We had the best trip. I would usually plan my own trips but in future I will be booking through Uwalk as you felt in safe hands the entire time. 10/10 would recommend!
