Walk the Portuguese Coastal Camino: Porto to Oia
This stunning section of the Portuguese Coastal Camino takes you from the vibrant city of Porto to the tranquil village of Oia, tracing a scenic route along the Atlantic shoreline. Over six walking days, you’ll explore seaside boardwalks, historic towns, golden beaches, and peaceful fishing villages, finishing with a well-earned rest day by the sea. With a mix of culture, coastal charm, and Camino camaraderie, this journey is the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.

Day 1: Arrive in Porto
Arrive at Porto Airport and transfer to your accommodation. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Porto’s historic centre known for its riverfront and port wine cellars. Enjoy exploring the old city before your walk starts tomorrow morning.

Day 2: Matosinhos to Póvoa de Varzim
Walk from Matosinhos to Póvoa de Varzim (21km)
After a short transfer to Matosinhos, begin your walk along the Portuguese Coastal Camino. You will walk along wooden boardwalks and seaside promenades through fishing villages and sandy beaches. Your day finishes in the resort town of Póvoa de Varzim.

Day 3: Póvoa de Varzim to Esposende
Walk from Póvoa de Varzim to Esposende (25km)
Today’s walk continues north along the Atlantic coast through dunes, farmlands, and quiet coastal settlements. The route follows scenic boardwalks and paths before reaching the riverside town of Esposende.
Overnight: Esposende
Day 4: Esposende to Viana do Castelo
Walk from Esposende to Viana do Castelo (26km)
Walking through a beautiful landscape of pine forests, farmland, and coastline. You will pass through small villages before crossing the Eiffel Bridge over the Lima River into the historic town of Viana do Castelo.
Overnight: Viana do Castelo
Day 5: Viana do Castelo to Vila Praia de Âncora
Walk from Viana do Castelo to Vila Praia de Âncora (19km)
Today, you will follow a mix of coastal trails, beaches, and rural paths with views of the sea and surrounding countryside today. You will arrive at the charming seaside town of Vila Praia de Âncora.
Overnight: Vila Praia de Ancora
Day 6: Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda*
Walk from Vila Praia de Âncora to A Guarda (19km)
Today’s walk is along the rugged coastline towards Caminha, where you cross the River Minho into Spain by ferry (or bridge, depending on conditions). You will continue to the fishing town of A Guarda.
Overnight: A Guarda
*This day you will have to take a Ferry to cross the river. Price for this Ferry is not included in the rates.
Day 7: Free Day in Oia
Enjoy a rest day in Oia. This peaceful coastal village is known for its seafront monastery, scenic walking trails, and views over the Atlantic Ocean.
Overnight: Hotel in Oia
Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your journey home.
