Day 1: Arrive in Porto
Arrive at Porto Airport and make your way to your accommodation (private transfers can be pre-booked through UWalk, or you can travel independently via the local metro/taxi). Spend the rest of your day exploring Porto’s historic old town, visiting the iconic Romanesque Cathedral, and strolling along the lively Douro riverfront before your walking journey begins tomorrow morning.

Day 2: Porto to Arcos
Walk from Vilar do Pinheiro to Arcos (16km)
After a short private transfer from Porto to Vilar do Pinheiro, begin your walk along the Portuguese Central Camino. You will pass through quiet rural landscapes, traditional hamlets, and countryside paths to reach Arcos.

Day 3: Arcos to Barcelos
Walk from Arcos to Barcelos (20km)
In Pedro de Rates, visit the beautiful Romanesque church with its iconic main facade. Continue walking through small, peaceful villages like Pedra Furada and Pereira until you reach Barcelos—a historic city famous for the legend of the rooster, vibrant squares, and rich culture.

Day 4: Barcelos to Ponte de Lima
Walk from Barcelos to Ponte de Lima (33km)
Walk through the picturesque countryside passing Vila Boa and Alto da Portela, leading to the 13th-century bridge of Ponte das Taboas. Finish the day in Portugal’s oldest town, Ponte de Lima. (Note: As this is a long stage, optional taxi transfers or stage splits are available upon request).

Day 5: Ponte de Lima to Rubiães
Walk from Ponte de Lima to Rubiães (18km)
Crossing the iconic Roman bridge out of Ponte de Lima, pass famous countryside quintas (villas) before beginning the climb through the Labruja valley. Though uphill, this section offers scenic views, deep pine forests, and quiet vineyards.
Overnight: Rubiães
Day 6: Rubiães to Tui
Walk from Rubiães to Tui (20km)
Ascend towards São Benito and continue through Fontoura to visit the Church of São Miguel. Pass through the historic fortress town of Valença do Minho before crossing the international bridge over the River Miño into Spain, ending your walk in the town of Tui.
Overnight: Tui
Day 7: Departure from Tui
Enjoy breakfast at your hotel before departing Tui or continuing on to the next stage towards Santiago de Compostela. Onward transfers are not included in the standard package, but private airport/station transfers can easily be arranged through UWalk upon request.

Can I customize this itinerary (add extra rest days or split long stages)?
Yes! All of our self-guided walks can be tailored to your pace. Extra night stays or stage-splitting options (such as splitting the longer 33 km Barcelos to Ponte de Lima stage) can easily be added during booking.

Can I travel solo?
Absolutely. The Camino is one of the safest and most welcoming routes in the world for solo travelers. A single supplement applies to cover private single-occupancy hotel rooms.
Luggage & Baggage Transfer

How does luggage transfer work each day?
We transfer one piece of luggage per person (up to 20 kg). Simply leave your labeled bag at the hotel reception by 8:00 AM each morning, and it will be delivered to your next accommodation by the afternoon.

What should I carry during the day?
You only need a small daypack (20–30L) containing water, daily snacks, light waterproof gear, personal first-aid supplies, your Pilgrim Passport, and cash/cards.
Travel & Transfers

Are airport transfers included in the package price?
Arrival and departure airport transfers are not included in the standard base price to keep costs flexible for different travel arrangements. However, UWalk can arrange private airport or station transfers upon request.

How do I get to the starting point in Porto?
Porto Airport (OPO) is connected directly to the city center via Metro (Line E) or taxi (approx. 20–25 minutes). Detailed local transport options are included in your travel pack.

What type of accommodation will I stay in?
We hand-pick comfortable 2-star and 3-star family-run hotels, guest houses, or traditional pensions located directly on or very close to the trail. All rooms feature private en-suite bathrooms.

What is a Pilgrim Passport (Credencial)?
Your Pilgrim Passport is included in your booking pack. You will collect stamps (sellos) along the route at cafes, churches, and hotels to verify your walk and receive your official Compostela certificate upon reaching Santiago de Compostela.

What happens if I encounter an issue along the route?
You will have access to UWalk’s 24/7 emergency support line while on your trip to assist with any unexpected trail or logistics issues.
