Camino Portuguese Coastal Route: Porto to Oia with Colm Brady Fitness
Walk one of the most scenic sections of the Camino along Portugal’s stunning Atlantic coastline. Starting in the vibrant city of Porto, this route offers a unique blend of sea views, golden beaches, and charming fishing villages as you make your way north into Galicia, finishing in the picturesque coastal town of Oia. The trail is relatively gentle and incredibly rewarding, ideal for those seeking a peaceful journey filled with natural beauty, local culture, and the soothing sound of the sea. This is the perfect route for walkers who want to experience the Camino with a fresh ocean breeze and breathtaking coastal landscapes at every step.

Day 1: Arrive in Porto
Arrive Porto for Overnight Stay
Arrive at Porto Airport and transfer to your accommodation. Spend the remainder of the day exploring Porto’s historic centre known for its riverfront and port wine cellars.

Day 2: Walk from Porto to Povoa de Varzim (21km)
After a short transfer to Matosinhos, begin your walk along the Portuguese coastal Camino. You will walk along wooden boardwalks and seaside promenades through fishing villages and sandy beaches. Your day finishes in the resort town of Póvoa de Varzim.

Accommodation: Póvoa de Varzim.
Day 3: Póvoa de Varzim to Esposende (25km)
Today’s walk continues north along the Atlantic coast through dunes, farmlands, and quiet coastal settlements. The route follows scenic boardwalks and paths before reaching the riverside town of Esposende.

Day 4: Esposende to Viana do Castelo (26km)
Walking through a beautiful landscape of pine forests, farmland, and coastline. You will pass through small villages before crossing the Eiffel Bridge over the Lima River into the historic town of Viana do Castelo.

Day 5: Viana do Castelo to Vila Praia de Ancora (19km)
You will follow a mix of coastal trails, beaches, and rural paths with views of the sea and surrounding countryside today. You will arrive at the charming seaside town of Vila Praia de Âncora.

Day 6: Vila Praia de Ancora to A Guardia (12km)
Today’s walk is along the rugged coastline towards Caminha, where you cross the River Minho into Spain by ferry (or bridge, depending on conditions). You will continue to the fishing town of A Guarda before transferring to your accommodation in Oia.

Day 7: Free Day in Oia
Enjoy a rest day in Oia. This peaceful coastal village is known for its seafront monastery, scenic walking trails, and views over the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the airport for your journey home.

Colm Brady will accompany the group along the Camino, however please note that this is a Self Guided Walking Trip.
Price includes:
- 7 nights self-guided walk to Santiago averaging approximately 15-20 km per day. Hotel accommodation with private facilities. We have chosen popular family run hotels along the route.
- Breakfast included daily.
- Scheduled Airport Transfers included.
- 1 x 20kg Bag transferred daily.
- Pilgrim Passport.
- Emergency support in the event of a problem.
- Back up support of Uwalk local office.

- Transfers are available on day of arrival.
- Rooms are based on twin share. Solo travellers can opt to be paired with other solo travellers for room sharing.

Cancellation Policy
Up to 60 days before travel = loss of deposit
60 – 30 days before travel = 50% cancellation charges
30-15 days before travel = 75% cancellation charges
Inside 14 days = 100% cancellation charges: NO REFUND.
